SAP Concur’s latest research findings from the 6^th Annual Global Business Travel Survey reveals significant challenges faced by U.S. business travelers in higher education. Despite the critical importance of travel for their careers, with 67% viewing it as essential, a staggering 94% have experienced reductions in flexibility over the past year.

Key Findings:

Flexibility Concerns: Overall, 38% feel companies prioritize cost-cutting over their need for flexible travel options
AI and Automation: While 91% are open to AI-driven travel booking solutions, only 7% are currently using them. Travelers seek company support for AI tools, including personal data protection and training.
Equity and Sustainability: 61% report unequal travel opportunities based on seniority, gender, or age. Additionally, 25% note their company prioritizes sustainability over flexibility, with 23% willing to decline trips due to environmental concerns.
